The ingredients needed to make Beef Pilau:
  1. Get 2 cups rice
  2. Take 1 cup cubed beef
  3. Get 1 large onion finely chopped
  4. Make ready oil
  5. Get 1 whole garlic (crushed)
  6. Make ready 1 tsp crushed ginger
  7. Prepare 1 1/2 tbsp pilau masala
  8. Prepare water
  9. Make ready salt and pepper

Pilau is a rice dish that is cooked in a seasoned broth, with some pieces of beef, chicken and sometimes peas, nuts and raisins, and whose brown. If any pilau is left over, store in the fridge for up to two days. Shape into small patties, and pan fry with a little oil and serve with ketchup or a relish of your choice. Add the Beef and then the pilau mix.

Steps to make Beef Pilau:
  1. In a large saucepan, boil the beef with 2 whole cloves of garlic and a piece ginger until meat is tender. Drain the stock into a separate bowl and put the beef in another dish
  2. In a heated saucepan, add some oil and then add in the onions. Let them brown. Add in the ginger, garlic and the spices then stir. Reduce heat to medium and keep stirring for around 2 minutes.
  3. Add the boiled beef and some salt and pepper. stir gently and carefully. Cover for like 10 minutes.
  4. Add the rice and stir to attain some brown (light) color. Make sure everything has mixed well for about a minute. Cover for another 8 - 10 minutes.
  5. Pour the stock into the rice mixture and stir to mix everything together. Reduce the heat to medium and let cook for 20 - 30 minutes. Remove from heat, when still cover and let sit for another 10 - 15 minutes.
  6. Serve.

Let the spices burn a bit and add salt. Add the tomatoes and red bell pepper followed by potatoes. Great use of beef stew meat! Wonderful beef stew with coriander, coconut and tomatoes. This is a dish from East Africa, but has lots of Indian influence.
