The ingredients needed to make Beef pilau:
- Take 1 cup rice
- Make ready to taste Salt
- Make ready 1 tsp pilau mix
- Take 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- Make ready 1 large onion sliced
- Get 1/2 (1 tsp) Cummin seeds
- Make ready Enough oil for cooking
- Get Meat as desired. (250g)
- Make ready 2 cups water
Pilau is a rice dish that is cooked in a seasoned broth, with some pieces of beef, chicken and sometimes peas, nuts and raisins, and whose brown. If any pilau is left over, store in the fridge for up to two days. Shape into small patties, and pan fry with a little oil and serve with ketchup or a relish of your choice. - Put the meat cut up into bite size pieces into a cooking pan, sprinkle some salt and add water then boil on medium heat until tender
- In a different cooking pan, add the oil, then add the onion and sauté until it starts to get translucent, add the ginger-garlic paste and mix until the raw smell of garlic is dispelled. Just a few seconds.
- Add in the pilau mix/pilau masala(whatever you call it) mix then add in your meat, some salt to taste and 2 cups of water, cover and let it come to a boil.
- Add in the rice and let cook until all the liquid is dispelled. Cover and steam on low heat for about 5 minutes then turn off the heat.
- Let cool for a few minutes then serve, or you can as well serve immediately.. Enjoy with some kachumbari 😋 Bon Appétit
Let the spices burn a bit and add salt. Add the tomatoes and red bell pepper followed by potatoes. Great use of beef stew meat! Wonderful beef stew with coriander, coconut and tomatoes. This is a dish from East Africa, but has lots of Indian influence.
