Oat Upma is one of the most favored of recent trending meals in the world. It’s appreciated by millions every day. It’s easy, it’s fast, it tastes delicious. They are fine and they look fantastic. Oat Upma is something which I have loved my entire life.

To begin with this recipe, we must prepare a few ingredients. You can have oat upma using 18 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Oat Upma:
  1. Get 1 cup Oats
  2. Prepare 1 Onion chopped (medium sized)
  3. Make ready 2 Green chillies chilli / broken red dried
  4. Get 4 - 5 Curry leaves
  5. Get 1/2 tsp Chana dal
  6. Get 1/2 tsp Urad dal
  7. Take 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  8. Get 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  9. Get pinch Hing
  10. Take 1 tbsp Oil
  11. Get 1.5 tbsps Peanuts (roasted)
  12. Take pinch Turmeric powder
  13. Get to taste Salt
  14. Get 1/2 tsp Lemon juice
  15. Prepare 1 Tomato lemon small  (finely chopped) skip if you use
  16. Get Corriander leaves   for garnish
  17. Make ready 1 tbsp coconut Grated as you desire (optional)
  18. Make ready 1/4 tsp Ginger chopped (optional)
Instructions to make Oat Upma:
  1. Roast oats for about 5 - 10 minutes in a wide pan on a medium flame until it turns light brown. Set this aside to cool. This helps to remove the husky smell.
  2. Heat a pan with oil. Add the following:  Mustard seeds, cumin seeds, peanuts - preferably broken, chana and urad dal and fry till golden.
  3. Add Hing, Ginger, Chili, Curry leaves and fry till the leaves turn crisp
  4. Add onions and fry till they turn transparent. Meanwhile, rinse the oats in a colander under running water and drain up the entire water.
  5. Once the onions are well fried add turmeric. If you prefer to use tomato you can add it now and fry till it turns mushy and reduce the flame to low.
  6. Add the rinsed oats, sprinkle salt. mix well. Cover and cook for about 6 to 7 minutes. stirring occasionally till fully cooked.
  7. If needed you can sprinkle little water, if you want it to be mushy.
  8. Add grated coconut, coriander leaves and lemon juice. Mix well and serve.
